Bringing Food Forests to NE Florida
Bringing Food Forests to NE Florida has a mission to bring food forest gardens to publicly accessible locations wherever there is a need, and educate community members, children and their families through the process of food forest garden creation and installation. These gardens provide free access to healthy, organic produce using sustainable permaculture techniques.
“A few public food forests have been created in the United States, and many more are right around the corner. Diena Thompson, her foundation and The Town of Orange Park (Florida) should be commended for their support of such a forward thinking and far reaching project. There isn't any doubt in my mind that Somer's Garden will have a huge impact locally and beyond.”
Florida Food Deserts
"All of this information has led local and national governments to look for solutions to these grave, compounding problems. That's where we come in to help."
We rely on volunteers, sponsors and grants to further our mission and goal of placing a food forest garden in all Title I districts in NE Florida and beyond.
BFFTNEF was established to make access to fresh, organic produce easy & free for the food insecure of NE Florida utilizing permaculture techniques. This avenue allows us to create not just a single self-sustaining food forest garden in each community but also spread the knowledge of health and wellness to the community at large.
